I am getting used to my new home and starting to learn a lot of things. When
I first got in the car and we started away from your place, I fussed a little as I wanted to get out of the car and stay. However, after a couple
of miles, I realized that I couldn't and decided to settle down
and have a sleep. The next thing I new, I was wakened up and taken for a walk at a
place called High Prairie. After a pee and a drink of water, I was back in the car and sound asleep. The next thing I knew I looked out and we were
parked at the new Boss's house. I got out and had a look around and
figured this place looked like fun. Lots of flowers to chew on. Not! Learned this
real quick. Decide to look around for a good place to use as a bath room and
made good use of it. Had supper and then started to play with my new Boss.
He seems to be good fun as long as I listen and learn. In the first to days I know what come means, also mark and carry. I make about three good
retrieves and then I want to play so the boss switches from the dummy to a toy and we have a great time. His son showed up last nite and I had a
good time with him too just before bed time. Had a good sleep last nite and have
had a good breakfast and decided to say hello to you and say
things are good here and I'm sure I have found a happy home. Its play time now so have
to go. Will be in touch later and keep you posted. Koto
July 24, 2006 Just a note to let you know that Koto is doing real well.
He has started to add leg and looks like he will turn out to be a tall
dog. He still is energetic about retrieving and playing with lots of
toy's. He knows the words, mark, no, come, carry, and sit. He
has trouble with stay as of yet but its coming. He will be going to the
Vet's for his booster shot next week. Had him out to a friends farm last
Sunday and he played all afternoon with their Chocolate lab female.
Needless to say, he slept most of last Monday.
Will be in touch with you from time to time and give you a
progress report on Koto. He sure shows a lot of promise for such a young
fellow. Dudley -Charlie Lake, B.C.
Dec. 8, 2006 I thought I would give you a little up date on my
life here so far. There have been a lot of lessons and I'm told a lot
more to come. I have learned to come when called for, Sit and wait until
I'm told to eat, and not to jump all over people, and to be gentle
with kids. The retrieving is coming along Ok, but I'm still a little
leary on picking up birds . It did not take
me long to learn how to smell out the pheasants and make them fly. I
got a little disgusted with the Boss as he would not shoot at the grey
one's I flushed. But he did shoot all the pretty one's my big friend Mac
put up. Guess I'm going to have to figure out if the pretty ones have a
different smell that the grey ones. I am now bigger that my play mate
Kalua and weigh
68 pounds. The Boss say's that he will send an up to date picture
after Christmas . It has been real cold here for all of November and it
sure is nice to have a nice warm kennel floor to snuggle up to. I
will be in touch
in the New Year.
Have a good and safe Christmas.

Jan. 11, 2007 Here are some pictures of Koto. -34C here this
am and have just had 15 centimeters of snow that is drifted inevery
where, It took 3 hours this morning so I could get the vehicles out of
the drive way. Koto is turning into a very good dog. I just hope the
weather improves so I can do some more work with him.

Nov. 14, 2007 Thought I would give
you a little run down on Koto and his fall hunting. I was not able
to get him to pick up dummy's with feathers attached at all. He
worked well with the plain one but not with feathers. I tried him
with a dead pigeon and he would not even pick it up. However,
He came along to Duchess Alberta on the yearly pheasant
hunt to see if he would at least hunt. Guess what, the very first
bird that was shot, he reached it first and brought it right back.
He did a little spitting and clawing at the feathers out of his
mouth after, but did not let it bother him, as he immediately
retrieved two more. The only real joke we had with him was
when I stayed back at the bunk house to do some cooking and he
went out with my son. Chris shot a pheasant about 400 yards
back of the yard. Koto retrieved the bird and headed for me at the
bunk house. Chris said it tool a lot of whiselling to get him
stopped.
He did bring it back to him and it
turned out to be his first live retrieve. The bird only had a broken
wing and he never hurt a feather on it. He even started to flush a
few birds the last couple of days so was real pleased with his
performance over all. I just
have to get him going into some of the heaver cover and he will be
away.
Take care and stay in touch. Dudley

KODA
Aug. 9, 2006 I couldn't remember if I had sent any pictures to you
before now. I tried
to send a video of Koda playing hockey with Colton, but it took forever
to
send so I cancelled it. Please let me know if you get these
pictures or
not. As you can see from the second photo, she definitely
likes her food!
